Dear MBL Family,
Thinking of You
My heart goes out to all of you as you grieve the loss of Cece. I hope you were able to attend one or both of our online celebrations. If not, we have recordings available and are happy to send them to anyone who requests them.
My Connection with Cece
Please know that I am grieving with you. My first Brain Gym® course was BG170 in 2000 (then called BG101 for Special Needs) — she quickly became my mentor and friend. We spent 5 years working and playing together during her time in Ventura, California, and I often traveled with her throughout the US. After she moved away, our connection remained strong and we regularly checked in with each other. I was in close contact with her throughout her cancer diagnosis and abrupt transition — I miss her deeply.
MBL and Breakthroughs International (BTi)
A few years ago, Cece approached me at our annual conference about leaving her “baby”, MBL, to Breakthroughs International (BTi). The idea was proposed to and approved by our Board of Directors. Since then, she and I have spent many hours in numerous meetings discussing her wishes and the future of Movement Based Learning. We also met with Carlota Lopez-Peredo Martinez, who is now our MBL Director.
Looking Forward
We will be clarifying the organizational structure internationally, addressing the MBL training process, developing necessary policies / procedures, and working on assessment protocols.
Thank You
Your patience is greatly appreciated as we move forward carefully and methodically—just as Cece would want. Our goal is to continue helping children and adults of all abilities to thrive around the world. In the meantime, you can send inquiries to Carlota Lopez-Peredo Martinez who is serving as our MBL Director, mbl@breakthroughsinternational.org.
I look forward to working with you and fulfilling the legacy of Cecilia Koester Osborne.
Kind Wishes,
Kari Coady

Our Teachings

Building Block Activities
A one-day workshop that offers an in-depth look at some basic patterns of neurological and motor development and is a good basis for further training in reflex integration such as Brain Gym® or rhythmic movement training with RMTi. The movements and activities that are taught are called “Building Block Activities.” It is open to all parents, caregivers, teachers and therapists. (No pre-requisites.)

Brain Gym® For Special Needs Providers
A four-day workshop that teaches safe, simple and effective movement activities that invite people of ALL abilities to meet their greatest potential. It can be part of the licensing process for those who are studying for their license to become a Brain Gym® Instructor/Consultant, or it can be taken as a stand-alone course and used in a private therapeutic setting or classroom. (No pre-requisites.)

Teacher Training
Content for teaching the workshops is provided by taking the Brain Gym® 170 and/or the Movement Based Learning’s Building Block Activities workshops. Once you are established, your only limitations are: your ability to market the program and meet the conditions to maintain your license. Cecilia offers support on a 1-1 consulting basis and will guide you in ways that you can deepen what you do.
