Dear MBL Family,

Thinking of You
My heart goes out to all of you as you grieve the loss of Cece. I hope you were able to attend one or both of our online celebrations. If not, we have recordings available and are happy to send them to anyone who requests them.

My Connection with Cece
Please know that I am grieving with you. My first Brain Gym® course was BG170 in 2000 (then called BG101 for Special Needs) — she quickly became my mentor and friend. We spent 5 years working and playing together during her time in Ventura, California, and I often traveled with her throughout the US. After she moved away, our connection remained strong and we regularly checked in with each other. I was in close contact with her throughout her cancer diagnosis and abrupt transition — I miss her deeply.

MBL and Breakthroughs International (BTi)
A few years ago, Cece approached me at our annual conference about leaving her “baby”, MBL, to Breakthroughs International (BTi). The idea was proposed to and approved by our Board of Directors. Since then, she and I have spent many hours in numerous meetings discussing her wishes and the future of Movement Based Learning. We also met with Carlota Lopez-Peredo Martinez, who is now our MBL Director.

Looking Forward
We will be clarifying the organizational structure internationally, addressing the MBL training process, developing necessary policies / procedures, and working on assessment protocols.

Thank You
Your patience is greatly appreciated as we move forward carefully and methodically—just as Cece would want. Our goal is to continue helping children and adults of all abilities to thrive around the world. In the meantime, you can send inquiries to Carlota Lopez-Peredo Martinez who is serving as our MBL Director,
mbl@breakthroughsinternational.org.

I look forward to working with you and fulfilling the legacy of Cecilia Koester Osborne.

Kind Wishes,
Kari Coady
Executive Director
Breakthroughs International

Testimonials

“Cece teaches movements that energize learning. She introduces Bal-a-vis-x and demonstrates how to apply the theory of movement-based learning by bringing children into the workshop so we can observe her using it with them. The information and techniques are definitely applicable to Occupational Therapy (OT) and compliments and parallels our practices.”

“The course that Cece shares far exceeded my expectations and objectives. I chose this course for specific reasons, and gained so much more! Every component of the class was selected and timed and the living structure that we can then pass along is invaluable. Cece, there is no doubt that you will always continue to grow and learn and then share. Your teaching and coaching style is exceptional as you reach our inner beings and potential. I loved being the receiver of such wisdom, Thank you so very much!”

“Cece has an ability to work a room with purpose. As I watched her and participated in this class I learned not only the activities from Brain Gym® and how/when to use them––I also became calmer within myself. Thank you Cece, from the bottom of my heart, for pausing long enough to touch, accept and teach my son.”

“Cece is kind, well-qualified and demonstrated the value of her message, i.e. as we are more grounded and centered in ourselves we are then able to reach out to others and participate and assist in their learning. I’ve learned many new skills/strategies and developed confidence in my own instincts. This class is very versatile for all my ages/abilities—-even for self-improvement—-everyone can benefit."
